================================
Z-FORMER
In this special former, the sheet is formed, drained
and dewatered at once. To that end the stock flows
on a single wire and the water is separated from
the fibers passing through the opening of the
wire due to the stock impulse, then due to centrifugal
forces and finally by squeezing the stock in the
felt covered forming roll. In this way it is possible
to produce sheets from 8 to 50 gr./m2 in potentially
unlimited speeds.
Other features of the Z-FORMER
- Low machinery construction cost and space requirements.
- Low operation cost in energy, personnel, maintenance, felts, wires. The Former is driven by the felt, assisted by the impulse of the stock on the wire.
- Operation with one only wire and felt with long life time (2-3 months and 3-6 months correspondingly) due to the lack of dewatering elements (foils, vacuum).
- Absence of vacuum, in the forming section.
- Noiseless operation.
- Very simple system costructionally and operationally having accessible headbox
- with lips and paper formation zone at eye-level.
- Operation with minimum water consumption (2 showers) from closed water system (low filter and pumps requirements, no effluent).
- A dry 3 dimensional sheet is formed and kept on the felt due to the squeezing during formation between felt and wire and remains on the felt assisted by centrifugal and capillary forces.
- No pick-up problems.
- Wide operation range: Basis weight
8-50 gr./m2, MD:CD 1:1 up to 5:1, Freeness 18-40 S/R, Speed 100-1.000 m/min.
- High quality paper.
- The first hours of operation the paper has a high porosity.
Up to now, 3 Z-Formers operate successfully. One
in Italy at 300 m/min. and two in Greece, one
at 600 m/min. and one at 900 m/min. The two machines
in Greece produce excellent facial Tissue and
the one in Italy special porous tissue for diapers. |
